Week 21

A picture of somewhere you'd love to travel.

Well, that would be just about anywhere, honestly! Wait, I probably don't need to go to the Serengeti or Antarctica. But, my favorite type of travel is road trips, especially if they are cross-country. Staying at hotels along the way, checking out local attractions, getting the flavor of different states. Yeah, that's pretty cool.

We, my best friend, her son and my three kids, have had the absolute pleasure of traveling across the country twice - month-long treks from the beautiful Pacific Northwest down to the lush Southern regions and back again.  In a rented minivan, we took different routes each time and saw some pretty incredible sights.  The first trip we visited with letterboxing friends all along the way.  The second time we decided to see as many national parks, museums and historical sights as possible.  Wow, we've seen a lot of the country!

But, there is so much more to see.  I'd love to visit the Grand Canyon.  It's been on the wish list each time, but for whatever reason it was scratched.  I'd also love to see Monterey Bay in California (I could visit the coast of California many times and it still wouldn't be enough - it is stunningly beautiful).  And we haven't even begun to explore the east coast.  All those historical monuments and museums...yeah.  *sigh*  That would be awesome!  Wouldn't it be great to just visit and photograph lighthouses all long the eastern seaboard?  What a dream...

Yes.  I want to explore my own country from the drivers seat.  The open road.  That's where I want to visit.

If you go to Grand Canyon you should also take the time for Canyon De Chelly. Beautiful

For adventure, I recommend taking the mule ride to bottom of the Grand Canyon. It's an awesome experience! There's interesting rock formations (great photo ops). If you do it, plan in advance (they were booked a year out when we did it) and carefully choose the time of year (for comfortable temps on the rim and in the canyon). It's an awesome experience.
